Should specialise in treating, diagnosing and preventing illnesses and injuries in animals. Must have experience of caring for pets, livestock, zoo animals, and wildlife.
Veterinarian may have worked in scientific research, public health, or regulatory agencies, contributing to scientific advancements in veterinary medicine and animal walfare.
Responsibilities
- Member of a medical institution
- Spaying and neutering dogs and cats
- Ideally hold or working towards a certificate or Advanced Practitioner status in internal medicine.
- At least 3 years of veterinary experience.
- Preventive Care – Administer vaccinations, provide parasite control, and offer nutritional counseling.
- Dressing and treating wounds, performing surgery and prescribing medication
- Testing for diseases and administering vaccinations
- Performing laboratory tests on samples and specimens
- A degree in veterinary medicine from a accredited university
- Surgical Procedures – Perform surgeries ranging from routine spaying and neutering to complex orthopedic repairs.
- Clinical experience in small animal medicine and diagnostics.
- Client Education – Guide pet owners on responsible care, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Examining and observing animals to diagnose health problems and assess their health
- Surgery, cardiology and oncology treatment
- Previous experience working as Veterinary Surgeon or in a similar role.
- Performing ultrasound and diagnostic imaging tests
- Extensive experience working with large and small animal medicine such as dogs,cats, cattle and horses
- Advising animal owners on preventive healthcare, general care and nutrition
- Zoo & Wildlife medicine
- Maintaining medical records of animals
- Medical Diagnosis & Treatment – Conduct physical exams, order diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications to treat illnesses and injuries.
- Handling emergency & critical care cases
